Nightshift turning off after waking from sleep

I've got a new 2019 16-inch Macbook Pro running the latest version of Catalina (10.15.2). I have Nightshift enabled all the time. I set the schedule to be on from 7am - 11pm. However, when I lock my screen/the laptop goes to sleep and I come back, Nightshift "turns off". I have to go into System Preference and move the slider to reactivate it.

Also, if this makes any difference, I have an external monitor connected.

Any thoughts?

Some possible solutions:

  • Try updating to macOS 10.15.3, the latest version available
  • Try disabling the timer, and setting Night Shift to always on
  • If the issue persists, you can access Night Shift settings more quickly from Notification Center. Click the icon in the top right of the Menu Bar or swipe with two fingers from the right side of the trackpad, then scroll up to reveal Night Shift and Do Not Disturb.

For some reason my system was not seeing any updates under "Check for Updates", so I didn't know there was a newer version available. I ended up having to download the full 10.15.3 from the app store, but I got it installed.

I also did as you suggested and removed the timer and just enabled Nightshift manually.

I'll let you know if that fixed the issue.

Thank you.
