Google Hangouts says: Connect to iTunes to use Push Notifications

IPhone/iPad Google Hangouts App

Message appears only in Hangouts, I click OK and it goes away. App works ok.

Started a week ago.

At the same time Hangouts no longer rings for incoming calls.

Communications seem to NOW arrive hours later AND there are no longer any alerts.

I tried signing out of the App Store on the device, then a hard re-set/start then signing in again - to no avail.

Tried deleting both accounts from Hangouts and then setting up the accounts again. No help either.

One answer there was that a new App version just came out. It is not definitive however I did download the latest Hangout app (had to use another iDevice) and it works as expected.

Not sure why they disable some features in the old apps and still let one download the old apps at the App Store.

Ask the Google folks supporting the app.
