Hi selyne160,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. I understand that you'd like to know what will happen to your iCloud Mail messages if you reset end to end encryption. I can see why you'd reach out for more information about this before proceeding; I'd like to help. It sounds like you may be using these steps due to a forgotten encrypted backup password in iTunes. If so, take a look at this info first:

"Follow the steps to reset your settings. This won't affect your user data or passwords, but it will reset settings like display brightness, Home screen layout, and wallpaper. It also removes your encrypted backup password.

You won't be able to use previous encrypted backups, but you can use the Finder or iTunes to back up your current data and set a new backup password."

About encrypted backups on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

To further clarify; certain settings on your device will be affected but the data stored on your device will be safe. Any information synced via iCloud, such as iCloud Mail, will also be unaffected. You will no longer be able to access the encrypted backups in iTunes, but you can make a new encrypted, or unencrypted backup using the steps in the article referenced above.

If you're seeing an option to reset end to end encryption somewhere else, or for another reason, please provide some additional details and I'll be happy to assist.

Best Regards.
