A few days ago, and I am not sure what triggered it, but suddenly Messenger won't let me sign in nor open the app on my iPhone 7 plus using the latest IOS software update. I have tried:
Force closing the app
Rebooting the iPhone
Trying to get into Messenger through the FB app
Resetting the network
a full reset of the phone.
nothing works
I just continue to get fatal error messages:
Delete the messenger app and re-download.
I am desperate because I depend on this app for critical communications. Again, I have done the following:
Force closing the app
Rebooting the iPhone
Trying to get into Messenger through the FB app
Deleted and then Downloaded the app numerous times
Resetting the network
a full reset of the phone.
None of this worked, same message appears.
I did this many times, sorry, didn't mention above,
It turns out it was the VPN app “LOCKDOWN”. If you turn off the firewall it allows messenger to start up, then you can restart LOCKDOWN
