iPhone playlists on iTunes

I understand that you are unable to locate your iPhone's playlists via iTunes on your Mac. I’m glad to look at this with you.

Are you an Apple Music subscriber? If so, let's make sure that the Apple Music Sync Library is enabled on both your iOS device and your Mac. The Apple Support article, Turn on Sync Library with Apple Music, takes you through the steps for iOS, macOS, and PC.

The Apple Music User Guide chapter, Apple Music User Guide, also has excellent information. A good call out is to make sure you are using the same Apple ID across all of your devices.

Thanks for your reply. To answer your question, you do not need Apple Music to see your playlists. Could you let me know the iOS and macOS versions of your devices? You can find the iOS version at Settings > General > About. On your Mac, the operating system information is located at  > About this Mac. Knowing the versions of your device's operating systems will help me give you the most up-to-date information and guidance.

For instance, in macOS Catalina, Finder, not Apple Music, takes over for all of your syncing needs. The Apple Support article, Use the Finder to sync your iPhone, iPad, or iPod with your computer, has much more information.

No worries! It is quite a significant change, and it sounds like you've got it. The playlists will still be created in Music, and then Finder will be used to sync. In Music, under Playlists, not Devices, you should see your personal playlists.

PS Not being facetious in my thanks, BTW, I meant it :) I had no idea I could go through Finder! I have been searching for the solution since my playlist ninja is not playing on itunes and also on my mac. thanks once again for being so helpful
