Dark spots on bottom of MacBook Pro with Touch Bar screen

Hey. Hope everyone’s well. I have a 2016 13inch MacBook Pro with Touch Bar and today suddenly when I turned it on there are 8 darkened spots at the very bottom of the screen. I’m so careful with my products and they’ve never been hit or dropped so I’m so confused how they’ve appeared suddenly. I have looked up and I can see there’s been a cases of this happening to the same models and possibly free repairs for the issue. I also lately have been having battery issues and it’s only lasting around 4 hours on a charge so I’m pretty annoyed at paying £1700 for this to be happening. Has anyone an idea if Apple will fix the problem for free? Thanks

Looks to my inexperienced eye like "theater stage lights" which suggests to me it is a screen backlight issue. But I may be very wrong.

Your best first step is to take it to Genius Bar. They may immediately offer free repair to the screen. Battery will probably be a charge, but the store manager may be feeling very generous. We are just users like you and cannot predict what will happen.
