Can Safari be adjusted to propagate login creds in private mode for a new tab?

I was not able to comment in this locked discussion...

so I am once again raising this topic. A very big difference when browsing in private mode using Safari (I'm using version 12.1), as opposed to FireFox or Chrome is, every new Safari tab requires an additional login if you're visiting a secure site. Login creds do not propagate from tab to tab. This was noted in the prev. locked discussion as a key differentiator betwixt Safari and Google Chrome, and sure enough FireFox is also able to open new tabs and preserve user creds. I am a big fan of opening links in new tabs for many reasons. Logging into every new tab is a major pain in the butt.

Here's just one of many examples why I regularly open most links in new tabs: Some forums, once an advanced search window is entered, do not allow the use of the "back" arrow to get out of "Search" to the previous page. You are STUCK in "search". Forever. I get bored in there, ha. So I open any old link in the forum as a throwaway and access advanced search from there. After I get my search results I can close it and click back to the tab where I'm reading. I do this for online banking, forums, Gmail... I do it all the time.

I started moving away from FireFox 'for a second' because it's constantly hounding me to UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE!

DANGER WILL ROBINSON, DANGER!! UPDATE!!! (please flail your hooks for that last reference.)

Safari doesn't do that, at least not in any annoying way that I notice. But I'm back to the Foxy now, because of this fairly crippling absence of 'tabular communication'.

Apple doesn’t routinely monitor the discussions. These are mostly user to user discussions.

If you want to, you can send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem or a suggestion for change. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem/suggested change solved sooner.

Thanks Eric. I don't mind the issue w/Safari enough to log it with Apple. I just wanted to know if there was an easy fix, e.g. some user switch or box I could tick.

I spoke with a good friend of mine who is, among other things, a developer of online financial applications, and he talked about how retaining credentials across newly opened tabs, for his particular software, is wholly undesirable.... something to do with their cookies, how they log user logins, and unpredictable software functionality. They were not able to turn off "sticky" credentials across browser tabs so they sent notifications to their users not to open their app in multiple tabs/windows.

Also depending upon which secure website you're visiting, private browsing behaves differently. Some sites retain your login even if you close all browser windows. As long as you don't quit FireFox 68.0 you can open a new window and you may still be logged in. This is the case with Google accounts. Other sites, however, like my online banking or credit cards log me out if I close the window. FireFox allows session sharing across new tabs on some of these "more secure" sites, while other sites (Citibank) display

javascript:void(0);

when using Command+Click, and do not support opening links in new tabs or windows. "Open in new tab/window" is absent from the drop-down menu when right-clicking.
