Messages Notifications & Long Press Menu Doesn't Work iOS 13.3

If Messages is not already running in the background, tapping on a recent contact in the long press pop-up menu or a message notification takes you to the Messages home screen instead of directly to that person's conversation. Very much trash software quality from Apple.

The same thing happened in iOS 11, then they fixed in in iOS 12, and now it's broken again in iOS 13.3.

Please BLOW UP Apple at www.apple.com/feedback and let them know we want this fixed!

Works fine for me, on both our iPhone 11 and 11 Pro Max. So why you think it doesn't for everyone else is likely a false assumption. Your call to "blow up" Apple with feedback seems a bit pointless. The better question would be why it doesn't work for you on YOUR phone?

What troubleshooting steps have you taken? Have you forced restarted your phone? Have you restored your phone? Have you scheduled an appointment at your Apple Store Genius Bar and showed them your phone?

No. Messages is not running in the background. Yes, the app was killed before I tried to see if I had any issue on both iPhone's. I'm on iOS 13.3.1

I didn't suggest restarting your phone. I suggested a Forced Restart (Reboot). If that doesn't work, then a restore from backup often will help as well. Your choice if you aren't willing after both steps to show the phone to Apple.

Probably works for you because Messages is already open in the background. What version of iOS are you on, and is the app killed in the background? I know it doesn't work on other phones because I've tried it on my family member's phones. I know how it's supposed to work, and how it's not. I've restarted my phone, and definitely not restoring my phone or going the Apple Store over this.

I don't know why it won't work on your phone. How are trying to do it, when a notification shows up?

And restoring from Backup, especially if you use your computer and iTunes to do the restore, puts a whole new iOS on your phone, which might solve this.

Restoring then loading my backup didn't work... tapping on a notification when I get a text or trying to go directly to a contact from the long press (right click) menu, if the app isn't already open in the background, it just takes me to the list of all my conversations instead of directly to the conversation.

Messages on my iPhone were not syncing on my other devices after the restore, so I went into Settings>Messages and turned off the very first slider (iMessage), power cycling, then turned it back on, and now I am not having the issue anymore.

You are right it is only on my phone... force restarting did not work.

What could be causing this?

If I do a restore, then load my iCloud backup, won't it just go back to having the same problem?
