Updated to Catalina. No sound

After updating to Cataline my MacBook pro has no sound. When pressing the sound +/- button it only says the sound is disabled. When going in to settings and pressing sound it loads then gives me an error telling me the it cant load the sound panel. Also coreaudiod is not running on my Macbook. Please help

Before you go to the trouble of reinstalling macOS, you might also try rebooting in safe mode to see if it helps. Let the Mac OS do drive directory repair, cache clearing and other misc housekeeping. Often just booting into safe mode and logging in, then immediately rebooting normally will resolve an issue.  You should do this with all your external peripherals disconnected but the keyboard and mouse.

Note– starting up in Safe mode could take 10 minutes or more. Be patient.
