After updating to Cataline my MacBook pro has no sound. When pressing the sound +/- button it only says the sound is disabled. When going in to settings and pressing sound it loads then gives me an error telling me the it cant load the sound panel. Also coreaudiod is not running on my Macbook. Please help

Before you go to the trouble of reinstalling macOS, you might also try rebooting in safe mode to see if it helps. Let the Mac OS do drive directory repair, cache clearing and other misc housekeeping. Often just booting into safe mode and logging in, then immediately rebooting normally will resolve an issue. You should do this with all your external peripherals disconnected but the keyboard and mouse.

In addition to the good advice you already have, you may also try resetting NVRAM and SMC.
First, try restarting your Mac in the usual manner. If that fails to restore audio functions then reinstall macOS.
Non of those worked. Tried both a long time ago. May also add that speaker works on the mac bootup sound

I think I tried booting into safemode. Also tired making a different account. I did not remember any driver directory repair. I will try that again and see if it works
