Photos' location. Wrong language (partly).

Hi. I live in Finland and my native tongue is Swedish. The region and language settings of my Mac are according to that. Both Finnish and Swedish are official languages here, and all programs seem to take that into account. Photos works all right since I can search my pictures by entering the desired location, using its Swedish name. The annoying thing is that wherever the location of my photos is displayed, it's always partly in Finnish. The Info pop-up shows the land and region information in Swedish while the village or town is printed in Finnish. Unfortunately the Finnish name version is also printed on the Memories slides of Photos.

Has anybody run into this problem and solved it?

Thanks in advance.

The location information comes from Apple Maps, which is not quite up to par when it comes to locations outside of US and the region preferences are hit or miss, with very little control by users.

The issues I experience are more often related to languages that use other than Western European alphabets. And if the location has multiple variants in English, even search won’t find them unless you guess which variant Apple Maps chose to use.

All we can do is report the issues directly to Apple. Use this link:

https://www.apple.com/feedback/

You can also report issues directly from the Maps app, but that’s tailored more to individual locations than general problems.
