Syncing To iCloud Deleted Some of My Notes - How to Recover Them?

  1. I setup iCloud roughly eight months ago - This made the 600 notes from the "Notes" app on my MacBook show up on my iPhone under "All iCloud" in Notes for iOS.
  2. Overtime, the notes didn't sync automatically. When I added new notes on my MacBook - they wouldn't show up on iPhone, and when I added notes onto my iPhone, they wouldn't show up on my MacBook in Notes. I assume that it is manual and figured that I would figure out how to sync at some point.
  3. For some reason, about one month ago, I was no longer able to search through the Notes on my MacBook's Notes search feature.
  4. I looked up a solution on Apple Support, and it said to uncheck “notes” from iCloud in System Preferences then re-check the box. I did that. All of the notes on my MacBook's Notes app disappeared - over 1,000. When I re-checked the box. Only the 600 notes from November reappeared.

Where might I be able to find the other notes? I assume that if they weren't stored in iCloud that they must be somewhere on the MacBook.

These are important notes. Please help.

-They are not found in the "Recently Deleted" folder on the Notes app for Mac.

-When I log onto iCloud, they are not there - only the notes from November.

-I do not have a TimeMachine Backup of my notes.

-I am running MacOS Mojave on a MacBook Air.

MacBook Air 13", macOS 10.14

It depends how did you set up the Apple ID account , say if you create a gmail address https://support.google.com/mail/answer/56256?hl=en

And create an Apple ID using same gmail address and password https://support.apple.com/en-in/guide/mac-help/mh35903/10.14/mac/10.14

And then sign in with system preferences > iCloud with Apple ID and password, you can sync notes both with gmail server and iCloud server .

What you did is unchecked the boxes of notes in system preferences > iCloud , they will temporarily disconnected , but once you again check the box of notes only those notes will sync that were on iCloud server , the gmail account notes will also get synced after few hours .

You can check the notes preferences see some articles https://support.apple.com/en-in/guide/notes/not85d6f7b58/mac

https://support.apple.com/en-in/guide/notes/apd97da26aed/4.7/mac/10.15

Click on drop down arrow shown with red arrow choose the gmail account , can also use on my Mac section .

Totally depend how did you created the apple id account , the notes that are on respective server will always sync , when iCloud storage is in limits , you always had checked the box of notes in system preferences > iCloud when the new notes were in uploading process .
