CarPlay does not show in main menu

So you don't have to use a cable to connect to CarPlay. In that case, and since your friend connected, you may have lost the settings on your iPhone. I would erase the previous pairing to your car (BMW?) and set them up again from scratch. The reason I asked about wireless connection is very few car makers support that.
