Which is better OS upgrade Mojave or Catalina for mac mini late 2012, 256 SSD, 16 GB. Would Catalina have problems that Mojave wouldn't? I must upgrade to at least Mojave to upgrade to the latest version of my CAD app.

Seems to me from helping on this site & others that Mojave has fewer Bugs & Catalina has plenty of people trying to back out of it.
To test what Apps you need new versions of if you went Catalina...
To see which Apps will no longer work in 10.15 get Go64...
I'd recommend Catalina in my opinion, but if you need to run 32-bit apps Mojave would be the one.
Catalina has more features than Mojave like Sidecar.
Catalina has the latest security updates.
Catalina gives you its nice wallpaper (lol)
Whatever you'd prefer. You can do a comparison of Mojave vs Catalina online and make your mind on which one you'd want.
I'd stick with Mojave.
I found answer about 32 bit vs 64 bit processor: go to "About this Mac" if processor is one of the following it is 32 bit processor: Intel Core Solo or Intel Core Duo.
If processor is one of the following it is 64 bit (I think any mac new from 2007 on)
I have done some "Googling" about this, and so far haven't found a reason to not go Catalina.
My CAD app needs processor with 64-bit support (Not sure what this actually is). Looking at "system report" the only thing I find that seems relevant to bit support is in SATA/SATA Express, which lists "Link Speed 6 Gigabit". Is this the same thing as bit support?
