iPad frozen, Wont hard reset

My daughters iPad is frozen and won't shut down until the battery runs out. If we charge it back up the same thing happens. It won't hard reset the usual way. I had the same thing happen to my iPhone once and support had me do a sequence of button pushes that forced the phone to reset but I did not write the sequence down. Does anyone know what the sequence is? Thanks

Use the method that works with her iPad.

iPad models with Face ID: Press and quickly release the Volume Up button. Press and quickly release the Volume Down button. Then press and hold the Power button until the device restarts.
iPad with Home button, iPhone 6s or earlier, and iPod touch (6th generation) or earlier: Press and hold both the Home and the Top (or Side) buttons until you see the Apple logo.

I have no clue what that would be other than to put the iPad into recovery mode in order to restore it, When this happened with your phone, did you use iTunes?

Thank you. That is the standard method that we tried and it didn't work. There is a more complex series of button presses that Apple support suggested worked on my phone when this happened.
