iMovie Crashing and Won't Update or Reinstall

iMovie crashed every time I try to import media. I have updated to the latest operating system. I am trying to update iMovie but I get the message "To update this app, you need to accept it on the Account page in the App Store". I have tried deleting the iMovie app so now I don't have it al all. I have signed out of the app store and restarted my macbpook. When I signed back into the app store it still has the same problem. So now I have no iMovie at all. I urgently need a fix to this as I am a teacher creating online resources and schools here are about to close. Please help!

Your iMovie app would be located in the applications folder. Drag it to the Trash, but don't empty the trash. Then sign in the the app store and update iMovie from your purchases folder as I described in my previous post. If still no luck, you can drag your iMovie app from the trash and return it to the applications folder.

Let's confirm that you are following the proper procedure for redownloading. When you go to the app store, sign in with the same Apple I.D. that you used to initially buy your present iMovie app. Then click on your name at the bottom of the app store side bar. Your purchases folder will open and you should be able to see and download iMovie from there.

Also, if you keep a Time Machine backup you can restore your iMovie app to a point prior to when you deleted it. In the future, rather than delete an app it is best to drag it into the trash, but don't empty the trash, in case you need to drag it back out again.

Thanks so much Rich! I actually still have iMovie. It didn't delete for whatever reason. There is no icon. It is not in the trash. When I do a spotlight search I can still find it. I read some advice about the unable to update issue and someone said to delete it and reinstall it from the app store. But instead I am going to look into the Time Machine thing. I haven't used it yet as I am back on macs after a break of many years. I think the glitch came because I updated my operating system but can't update iMovie.

Thanks again, I'll have a look at time machine now.
