i can not upgrate os

Hello, i currently have os 10.9 and i need to upgrade as some apps are not usable anymore. However, when i go to system preferences and updates, there are no updates to be made and i also can not find this in the app store. Can you please help how i can update? Thanks.

Redownload the Installation File:

Re-download it, going here:

Go Here: How to update the software on your Mac - Apple Support
Scroll Down: to the How to get updates for earlier macOS versions pane
Proceed from there as necessary.

If that is no success, isolate the issues:

Create a New Administrator: Try the install that way. If It works, then it is something configured in your current user.

Boot into Safe Mode: If of no success, then bot into Safe Mode (Hold Down: Shift key upon boot). Caches and all other unnecessary items are put aside when booting into it.

USB Bootable Installer: If neither of the above is of success, create and use a USB Bootable Installer, and proceed from there.

Ok I have managed to find Catalina however now I have downloaded it and it gets stuck after I enter my iCloud password.

it doesn’t seem to pass this step. It says install , I press it and then nothing happens

Depending on your specs you may be able to upgrade to El Capitan, High Sierra, Mojave or Catalina.

Try this:

Delete the file "Install Mac OS Catalina" from your Applications folder. Then restart and use this link to download Catalina again:

Get macOS Catalina

Check in your Applications folder for a file named "Install Mac OS Catalina" and double-click on it. If that does not install please tell us what message you get.
