6 monitors on MacPro (late 2013)

I have 6 VGA/DVI 27” monitors and I bought 6 DP to DVI adapters but only 2 of the monitors turn on.

Is there different adapters that will allow all 6 of my current monitors to turn on?

or does it just not work with VGA/DVI monitors at all no matter what adapters I have?

if I bought 6 new monitors that have DisplayPort will I be able to run all 6?

what if I bought 6 monitors that have HDMI and got 6 DisplayPort (Thunderbolt) to HDMI cables. Will that work?

and is not Active.

The one I linked is MDP2DVIS

and is active.

The only active one sold by Apple is the dual-link DVI model, and is hasn't been available from Apple for several years.
