Giving "ask in person" approval for Apple Store App purchase (family Ask to Buy)

In the past, I could enter approval for purchases by my children by using their own device using 'approve in person' as described in https://support.apple.com/en-au/HT201089#parents.

This functionality no longer appears. There is no longer a link to click on to provide "in person" approval.

How can I restore this functionality of being able to give parental approval for apple store purchases from the child's device? Or has Apple removed this functionality to get more parents to buy a second Apple device, thus generating additonal sales?

Hello, J-blue.

I understand that you no longer see the option to provide in-person approvals for App Store purchases. As a father, I love the safety and protection this feature offers and am glad to help.

The Apple Support article, If Ask to Buy isn't working, provides specific insight into this issue. In addition to the steps in the article, I would also suggest restarting all the devices involved and ensuring that they’re up-to-date.

Restart your iPhone

Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Best Regards.
