Recovering Texts

I know I can recover my texts because I have iCloud > Messages: OFF and I have a backup prior to the deletion, but how do I recover them exactly?

iPhone 7 Plus, iOS 13

You erase the phone and restore it from the backup you made prior to deleting the messages.
