Documents directory is missing or deleted
documents directory is missing perhaps deleted no time machine backup, how can I restore

You likely enabled storing Documents on iCloud Drive.
Open any folder window. In the sidebar, there should be a section for iCloud and a Documents icon it. If you don’t see any subsections, Howe’s the mouse over that iCloud heading and lick on Show.
