Disabling "Send with Effects"

Sometimes when I try to text a non-iphone the "Send with Effects" pops up. I have tried repeatedly to disable it in the Accessibility panel in Settings by turning on "Reduce Motion." Despite this, I still have the Send with Effects pop up and even if I try to send the message with an effect, it won't send.

Hello andibo,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. It's my understanding that you're intermittently prompted to send a message with effects, even if the recipient is doesn't have an iOS device. I can see how this could be concerning. I'm happy to help.

Enabling Reduce Motion will prevent you from receiving message effects, but doesn't impact sending messages. If you haven't already, make sure that your iPhone has the latest software version.

Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

If the issue persists, force Messages to close and restart your iPhone.

andibo,

Thank you for trying the suggested steps and following up. We recommend reinstalling iOS with a computer. This step can resolve possible software issues by removing your current software and installing a fresh version. While your computer will try to reinstall the software without erasing your data, it's definitely a good idea to make sure that your content is backed up prior to trying this step.
