I just ordered and have received an iPhone 11. I put that I wanted to trade in my iPhone 7 and apple said they would send me a “trade in kit”. Is the kit the box I received my new phone in, or is another box still on the way so I can send my iPhone 7 back?

No, it’s a separate package that Apple usually sends out a few days later.
Log into your account (or the Apple Store app) and in addition to the status of your new iPhone delivery, you should also see the status of the Trade-in Kit shipment.
