Imovies not syncing across devices

I made a movie using iMovie on my Mac and I was wondering why it’s not showing up on my iPad Pro. iCloud is turned on on both devices and it’s got the iMovie setting turned on too.

I want to start a project on my Mac and be able to edit that same project on my iPad, is that possible? If so, how to enable it?

so far I’ve exported the file from iMovie on my Mac and saved it on my iCloud Drive, but even then iMovie on iPad won’t allow me to import the file. It’s just greyed out on the import file selection screen.

help is appreciated

iPad Pro, iOS 13

Hi Rich

So basically you can transfer a project as a project from iPhone or iPad to Mac but not the other way? this makes no sense?? sure the way the apple world is with using the cloud there has to be a way of handing the project off on all devices? if not maybe this is something apple need to look at. Everyone like to do things on the go and yet a simple thing like this is not possible.

I think you can kind of transfer them both ways, but you have to do it through exporting from one device and them importing on a different device. Which is so unnecessarily convoluted when apple has iCloud and literally the option to sync to iCloud is right there in the settings (as in, iMovie has an option on iPad settings to sync to iCloud...)
