I highly suggest to you Rusty_66 calling the senior advisor and run the diagnostics. They can do it remotely, and see what they say. Maybe there is some game running in the background that you are not aware off. But it is definitely affected a lot of people. A few of my friends have iPhone 11 Pro's and they charge 2-3 per week. Go and figure!

Thank you everyone for these ongoing reports. I have an iPad Pro circa 2017 - until last fall's iOS update I had 20 hours on a battery. I worked with a dozen or so Apple Senior Advisors, and did two full complete resets during which I wiped my iPad clean and did new installs. My battery time dropped to 4 hours on a charge.

I try to close every app after using it and that has brought my battery life back to 6-8 hours on a charge but it took six months and hours on the phone to get to this point.

For people with iPad Pros whose devices are operating at full battery capacity I wonder what you are doing that I'm not? Because my battery life went down the tubes after the iOS 12 update. Functionality also went south.

I am having the same issues. After the update, severe battery drainage and apps acting wacky. I couldn't get into settings half the time, hard to hard restart my phone several times a day. Did all the suggestions from Apple, etc. but I could not preform a factory reset on my phone due to the glichiness. So after I already have a replacement phone on the way, it starts to act a little better after a week of not being able to use it. Still insane battery drain but the apps are preforming mostly normal. Even after I have had the battery replaced it drains rapidly. Within hours, complete drain. So strange that it seems like this is a hardware issue that starts immediately after uodating.

I have a 2month old iPhone 11 Pro - it is usually at about 50-70% battery life at the end of the day. The last two days it’s drained to in the red (<20%) in less than half a day.

My iPad mini 4 has been unused for a period - and left on the charger. Today it’s drained from 100% to 42% in just over an hour and hardly used. What is happening?? Both devices are running iOS 13.5.1

Well perhaps to kill your battery and make you buy the upcoming iPhone 12 ,s...

Unbelievable but could be true. I am also hugely disappointed from Apple , quality really down, software still best but the devices are poor quality, battery life sucks along with connectivity plus faulty screens on their flagships, £1000 for phone that has worst picture quality than iPhone 5s from 2013.,... soon I am going to the Apple sore to see the manager.

Hi. I’ve never had an issue with updates. Normally I avoid the major updates and go with the incremental updates. But since going from 13.6.1 to iOS 14 I’ve seen the same issues you have stated. Bad battery drain and slow charging times. It’s been a week since I’ve updated and I’ve not seen any improvements. Tried all the recommendations of improving battery and charging performance but without good results. The download and installation of the update took an hour (due to WiFi speed being choppy) meaning my 7 went from great battery life and fast charging to bad battery life and slow charging in an hour. Not what I expected from a trillion dollar company.

my question is this: have you updated since this post and if so, did battery life and charging go back to normal with subsequent updates?

As said already in one of my replies, my diagnostics is that, sometimes, an update goes wrong (I don’t know why) and that brings up the battery drain behavior. Hopefully, this disappears with a subsequent OS update (any of them). In my case, it took two or three of them, meaning I experienced more than a month of “unusability” in which my battery health went from 94% to 88%.

For an entire year I've dealt with this problem. I have an iPad Pro. I formerly had 20 hours of battery life. With iOS updates 12 and 13, my battery life dropped to 4 hours. No improvement. Admins: I know you will have to delete this post but I'm saying it: Apple does not care what it does to your devices. It only cares about selling new models. Sad. I was an early adopter but Apple has lost my loyalty.

Man that’s crazy. I save up to buy my phones cash instead of getting into the crazy contract prices that our service providers charge here in South Africa. So that means a new phone for me every 3-4 years. Let’s hope next update or two fixes this.

i lost some of the data on my laptop so I can’t restore to previous version. Do you reckon if I back up my phone as is and do a full restore, will it maybe help?

It's crazy, but sometime, after several weeks of having this battery issue after the update to 13.6.1 or whatever # it was, the problem seemed to subside on its own. I had taken to turning my iPad Pro off when I was done using it and having to turn it on each time I wanted to look something up or play. Then one day after a charge I left it and a few hours later the battery was still nearly full, so I left it on after using it and battery drain was more or less back to normal. Knock on wood, whatever the issue was it solved itself. I've since updated to 14 and have not seen any noticeable issues -- still knocking on wood.

Lol knocking on wood you say! It’s crazy that we have to let things ride out like that but I guess that’s what needs to be done. Like I said in one of my previous responses on this thread: this is a trillion dollar company. I don’t expect anything to be perfect at launch or with subsequent updates but one would want things to be less bumpy. I understand Marion_PB frustration and things like this does test brand loyalty because you paying lots of dough for what is essentially a mobile telephone with internet connection so one would expect things to be more smooth sailing. My brand loyalty has not been tested...yet. Sometimes a little faith or knocking on wood that things will be good might just work out
