2018 Mini A1993 HDMI direct to Thunderbolt 3?

Hi, so I have upgraded to the Mac Mini A1993 (2018). Bought two, new high speed HDMI to USB-C cables, plugged them in and pow... doesn’t work. I’m now reading I actually need an adapter? Is that the case? I mean my old mini had the mini-display port (T2) and worked great from these same monitors. Am I missing something?

OK, so actually, it does work. My issue was not following the instructions. The four T-3 ports on the back of the 2018 Mini operates on different bus’s. So i plugged on monitor in all the way on the left port, the other on the far right port and viola, I have working monitors. On a side note, the 2018 A1993 is BLISTERING fast compared to the 2014 unit I had. So I’m just dumb... I’ll take ownership of that!
