How can I recover text messages I accidentally deleted?

If you sync messages with iCloud and deleted them, they are gone. If you don't sync messages with iCloud and you have a backup made prior to deleting the messages, you can restore your phone from that backup, but your phone will be current as of the time the backup was made.
