There was a demo at the last LAFCPUG Supermeet in Las Vegas where Tim Dashwood pieced together two Canon EOS 7D DSLRs to shoot an example in 3D and then he edited it in FCP.

The LAFCPUG had an archive of this webcast on their site for a while, it may or may not still be a viable link.

You might try to google LAFCPUG supermeet #9 and see if it's still there.

I'm sure apple has something up their sleeve, but for now, stereo in FCP is still a bit of a hack.

There are a couple of helpful links for hardware and stuff toward the end.

We ultimately abandoned this route and are using IRIDAS Framecycler and Baselight to view our stereo material, but I'd love to hear about your FCP solutions if you decide to pursue it.
