Music Download not Showing up in Music

I recently downloaded an album from an ethical music site (which I've done before with no issues), but the album isn't showing up in Music no matter what I do. I have done everything I normally do for downloaded music not from iTunes (select tracks, right-click, click "open with Music,"), but it's not working.

What's going on? I've never had this issues before. The tracks play just fine in Quicktime, but Music won't recognize them (and they're mp3 files).

Rebekah, Drag one of the problem files into your Automatically Add to Music folder, which is inside the Media folder. If the file is compatible it will be added to your library. If it is not compatible, it will be placed in a Not Added folder.

Hi Rebekah,

If they were converted from FLAC, they may indeed not be acceptable MP3s; that would depend on the conversion that was done. The symptom you described above is consistent with that.

To find your iTunes Media folder, see the path listed in Preferences > Files > Music Media folder location, and the Automatically Add to Music folder is in it.

If your source had an option other than FLAC, use it.

Where would I find the "Media" folder? I don't remember ever seeing it on my MacBook (then again, I could have missed it).

Not sure if this helps, but when I go into the folder continuing the audio files and right-click on them to open them with Music, the screen will automatically switch from Finder to wherever there's free desktop to open Music (which it normally does if I'm importing music to what used to be iTunes). The only difference is that nothing is showing up.

For what it's worth, I also just updated my MacBook to the newest version of Catalina.

I might also add that the files open perfectly in the Books app. Is that because they were originally .flac files? Do I need to use a program to properly convert them to .mp3 files?
