Good afternoon PIEMAN6,

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!

I understand you are trying to update your Mac to macOS Catalina 10.15.4. Can you provide some additional information regarding this?

Which Mac model do you have, and what macOS are you updating from?

How much available space do you have on your Mac?

Are you seeing any specific error messages during the update process?

Check the Applications folder to see if the Installer file is still there. If so, delete the OS X installer, restart the computer and try the update process again. If you are using a Wi-Fi network, try connecting via ethernet for a faster connection.

How to update the software on your Mac

Take care.

If you are already running an earlier version of Catalina and want to update to the latest version 10.15.4

Instead of trying to update via System Preferences> Software Update you can try downloading the standalone

Combo Update from here, https://support.apple.com/kb/DL2037?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US

Make sure your mac is connected to your router using a cabled connection. Do not use the mac while it is downloading,

do not use other devices that share the same internet connection while the mac is downloading.
