I know you're supposed to be able to cancel an event without it disappearing from your calendar because there's a symbol listed for it. But I can't see a command for it? Anyone?
If I have an event that needs cancelling, but I want to retain it, I alter the Title of the event with the abbreviation of "CNX."
Please let Apple know about your desire to make that change by using Calendar Feedback.

I agree with you the Support Article is confusing and also states: Symbols used in Calendar on Mac - Apple Support
"You declined the event invitation.
To see events you declined, choose View > Show Declined Events.
A line through an event’s name indicates that it’s canceled."
The first example refers to an event invitation, which I have never used, and I have never seen where strikethrough is offered to the user in any other circumstance.
It's a ******. And severely limits the functionality of Calendar. I hate completely losing my records since some events need to be referred to later as being canceled. Thanks for understanding. Wish there were an answer.
No. I need to know how to cancel an event without deleting it.
It’s just so odd to me that the Help menu describes the different symbols in Calendar and show what “cancel” looks like! But thank you, I will.
I wonder why P.I.S.S.E.R. had to be removed as a swear? 😆
