Cancel not Delete Calendar Event

I know you're supposed to be able to cancel an event without it disappearing from your calendar because there's a symbol listed for it. But I can't see a command for it? Anyone?

Hello CaitThorn,

Thanks for that info and for choosing the Apple Support Communities. If I understand correctly, you are trying to delete an event in the Calendar app on your Mac. To see what is possible, please see these Apple resources on what you can do with events and keyboard shortcuts:

Cheers!

I agree with you the Support Article is confusing and also states: Symbols used in Calendar on Mac - Apple Support

"You declined the event invitation.

To see events you declined, choose View > Show Declined Events.

A line through an event’s name indicates that it’s canceled."

The first example refers to an event invitation, which I have never used, and I have never seen where strikethrough is offered to the user in any other circumstance.
