I am on Mac Book Air. MacOS 10.13.6 I have verified my iCloud account repeatedly. Each time I try FaceTime or iMessage I get the same reply.
"An error occurred during activation. Try again." (again, I have verified my iCloud credentials repeatedly)
I have followed EVERY suggested step I found online for fixing this problem.
I have been receiving this activation error for about 4 days after verifying my iCloud account and linking my MacBook Air to iCloud in System Preferences -> iCloud -> Account Details -> Devices
I have both my iCloud account and other than iCloud account as my contacts in my iCloud setup
I have 2 factor authentication setup with my mobile phone.
My date and location are correct and verified.
My personal info is setup correctly in iCloud setup (on my Macbook)
I had to login to iCloud to post this reply, so that's a "no-brainer"
Let me know if you need more technical details.
Malware Bytes (Free On-Demand version only )
Free version of CleanMyMac 3
I have the Mac Book's native VPN client configured to connect to work, but I rarely use it. It's never connected when I try to use imessage or Facetime
Clock is accurate to the second
Are you able to login to say iCloud?
yes i’m logged into my icloud accoount, but when i log into facetime/imessage using my icloud it just says activation unsuccessful
Any luck yet?
I do not have any other Apple devices (forgot to mention that)
Are you running any Anti-Virus or Cleaning Apps?
Are you using a VPN?
Is you Clock within seconds of the right time?
Remove CleanMyMac 3 per their directions then make sure it didn't leave any files using etrecheck.
Restart
I'll try that asap. Thnx for your time.
Did this solve the issue for you? I am having the same problem?
We often never hear back one way or another. :(
