iPad update

I can’t update my iPad !!! Please help

Force-restart your iPad - then attempt to install the already-downloaded update.


To force-restart:

  • On an iPad with a Home button: Press and hold the top button and the Home button at the same time. When the Apple logo appears, release both buttons.
  • On an iPad with Face ID: Press and quickly release the volume up button, press and quickly release the volume down button, then press and hold the top button. When the Apple logo appears, release the button.




If having restarted the iPad the downloaded update still fails to install, then the download may be corrupt. If so, it’ll be necessary to delete the download prior to a further attempt.


To delete, the downloaded update:

Settings > General > iPad Storage - scroll down the list of Apps until you reach the Update file, tap, then Delete.


Restart you iPad, then attempt the update again:

Settings > General > Software Update
