I currently have my desktop backed up to iCloud so i can reach it from my phone anytime.
How can i disable the option that it removes all data from local storage on mac ?
I mean when i try to get files on my desktop it has to download it first, which i don't want.

When a Mac and other apple devices are signed in with same Apple ID and password on the same network , if you open system preferences > click on Apple ID icon > iCloud and uncheck the box of iCloud Drive a pop up window appears , showing to keep a copy of documents , and remove from the Mac .
Click on remove from Mac .

a ) if you had clicked on keep a copy , they will be archived in home folder that can be viewed by clicking on finder in the dock , take cursor on top menu bar > Go > Home > your user name > iCloud Drive ( Archive ) .
I think it does exactly the opposite of what im trying to achieve.
I want files to be stored both on my mac and on iCloud.
My problem is when im trying to reach big filed on my desktop it sometimes takes a very long time to open..

This is how the feature works.
If you go to System Preferences/iApple ID/iCloud Drive/Options, is Optimization checked? If so, try turning that off.
