Under normal use, the Pencil 2 tip should not scratch the screen of your iPad. If you push too hard, it could be possible. Also if you have a heavy hand, the tip of the pencil can wear off, exposing metal, which definitely can scratch the screen. If you concerned about this, there are tip covers you can use, which protect the tip of the pencil, but still permit it's full use on your iPad screen. We use these ourselves, so check this link out from Amazon --> https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07S8XHL47/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I have an iPad Air 3 covered with a Fintie case with a built in screen protector and I’m using the Apple Pencil 1 with it. I have scratched the cover using the pencil. I admit I have a bit of a heavy hand but when I was using one of my drawing apps, I was experimenting with the pencil using different angles and different pressure. Obviously I was press too hard.

Just be careful if you don’t use a screen protector. I plan on getting a new case, and I am going to buy the nib covers that lobsterghost1 is recommending.

However, a new case and the nib covers are not a priority. Dealing with life stuff is my priority right now.
