iPhone 11 Screen Spots

The photos show it all. This literally happened all of the sudden. I’ve been using my phone like normal today. I got home and noticed weird spots on a video I had taken. Upon further examination, it wasn’t the video. What’s weird is those spots don’t show up on a screen shot...only when I’m looking at the screen. Any ideas?

Hi, smcarbon1,

Thanks for visiting the Apple Support Communities. I see from your post that you have concerns over some spots on the display o your iPhone. I'm happy to help!

I understand that the spots do not appear when taking a screenshot, but are visible when physically looking at the display. This could be caused by a problem with the display itself, but to rule out any software issues first, I recommend the following steps:

  1. Restart your iPhone: Restart your iPhone - Apple Support.
  2. Check for, and install any updates for iOS: Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support.
  3. Backup your iPhone: How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support and reinstall iOS using the "Reinstall iOS or iPadOS" section of If you see the Restore screen on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support.

If the issue continues after the, use one of the available methods here: Contact Apple Support to get in touch with Apple Support directly.

Have a good day.
