I can't get my music to play
For some reason I cannot get my music app on my MacBook air to work. I have purchased many albums and know I can't get them to play. Is this something to do with 'joining apple music' ?
MacBook Air 13", macOS 10.15

G'day DMN1950,
Thanks for replying. It sounds like it might be helpful to test this issue in a newly-created user account on your Mac.
Here's How to test an issue in another user account on your Mac. Once you've logged into the new user account, use this to download a few of your purchased songs, and then test them. This will tell you if the issue is system-wide or user-specific: Redownload apps, music, movies, TV shows, and books
Have a good one.

Hi DMN1950,
Thanks for posting! I understand you might be having some issues playing some music on your Mac. Being able to play music is great, and I'd like to see how I can help.
Can you provide some detail about what's happening when you try playing music? If you're getting an error, what does it say?
It sounds like this is happening with purchases in the iTunes Store. Is that right, or are you also subscribing to Apple Music?
Does it help if you click Apple menu () > Restart and try again?
If you've recently joined Apple Music, you might want to make sure you're signed in with your Apple ID and that Sync Library is turned on. This resource will show you how: Turn on Sync Library with Apple Music
I hope that helps! If the issue persists, feel free to reply back here.
Take care.
Hi DMN1950,
Thanks for the reply and information.
For clarification, are you saying you don't have a Play button in the Music app on your Mac? To troubleshoot, I recommend starting here: If you have problems playing music on Mac
Best wishes.
Hello DMN1950,
We appreciate the update. Were you able to try the steps in the link above to see if they help? If you have problems playing music on Mac
Also, what happens when you double-click a song? Does it start to play?
Cheers.
Over the years I have purchased many albums and I am not a subscriber to Apple Music but know I can't play my purchased music. It doesn't give me the option to PLAY. Is this because I am not an apple music subscriber.
No I have a play button but it is faded, like it is not an option for me. So when I click play nothing happens. It is just that I paid for these albums and I would like to play them. I have Spotify and that is perfect so if I can't get it going I will forget Apple Music.
None of the suggestions in your link were relevant. I have tried double clicking but as I mentioned the option to play is deselected so nothing happens
