URL address disappears after enering

In Safari on macOS, when entering an address like www.apple.com, the address disappears after hitting the Enter key and no page is loaded.

This happens maybe 1 in 20 times I manually enter a URL.

When it happens, it can repeat 1-2 times in a row, so I have to type in the same address multiple times to load a page.

The issue started some months ago, but I am not sure which update it was.

Safari Version 13.1 (15609.1.20.111.8)
