I have OS X Yosemite 10.10.5 mid 2012 how do I upgrade to OS X 10.11.4?

MacBook Pro 13", OS X 10.10

Back up your data, check your applications for compatibility, and download El Capitan, High Sierra, Mojave, or Catalina. If you're upgrading to run a specific program, you should choose the newest version which maintains compatibility with the others you're using.

How to upgrade to macOS Catalina is the only version you can upgrade to at this time. The App Store will not let you download older versions. You can try this direct download:
