Lost List in Notes App

I created an extensive grocery list using the Notes app. When I went to the store yesterday and checked off the first item, the entire list vanished. What happened and how can I get it back?

Have you tried going to the Recently Deleted Folder? You might have accidentally deleted the note. If not, you might have deleted the texts on the note. You could have undo this by shaking your phone but since this happened yesterday, I doubt it can still be recovered by undoing it.

Thank you Patricia. I didn't delete the note but the entire contents of it are. It was a very long grocery list, I was at the store and when I checked off the first item the entire list disappeared. That's all I did, no delete key, just the contents vanished. I had been working on that list for days!! If you or anyone else have any suggestions I would truly appreciate.

Thank you for the article Patricia. It contained a lot of good information, but stlll no clear reason for why the entire contents of my "Grocery List" folder to instantly vanish when I selected the first item to indicate I had put the item in the grocery cart. The items were a large number so easy to locate if they had been in the "Deleted" folder but it's like they never existed. I'm very frustrated and now I don't trust Notes for building a grocery list. I really think this problem has something to do with unchecking an item in the list because that's when all of the contents vanished (not deleted). Thanks for listening and again, I do appreciate your input!
