Apple ID

I recently had an issue with my previous Apple ID which couldn’t be resolved. I ended up having to delete it, but was able to keep all my stuff. Now I’m getting repeated messages from my phone saying “Update Apple ID” meaning I have to log in to my previous account to get rid of this notification. But, the account doesn’t exist anymore. How can I get rid of this?

iPhone XS, iOS 13

Before deleting the ID, did you sign out of the places suggested in the article below? If not, you won't be able to use a new ID on the phone, and you will probably end up with an Activation Lock.

What to do after you change your Apple ID or password - Apple Support.

If necessary, if you are the original owner, contact Apple ID Support. They will need to see the original purchase receipt with the serial number/paperwork.

Apple ID - Official Apple Support.

Contact Apple for help with Apple ID account security - Apple Support.  (Link doesn’t always load)

Get Support      Work through the screens to get a chat option.

Or fill out and submit  iTunes Store - Contact Us - Official Apple Support    The form is for iTunes, but will get passed to the ID Support section.

You won't be able to do what you said originally if you deleted the account unless you did so very recently. See:

How to Delete your Apple ID Account https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT208504

“While your request is being processed, you can contact Apple Support with the unique alphanumeric access code you received, and we’ll help you cancel your request. After your account is deleted, Apple can't cancel the request, reopen your account, or restore your data.”
