NO SIGNAL FROM Focusrite 2i4 to Logic Pro X

SO - opening this thread again. I have tried to toggle the mic access setting in privacy, and to no avail. Garageband and Logic are not not he mic access list. Garageband is able to find and get signal no problem From the 2i4, but not logic. tried unchecking the box and then rechecking, reboot. reinstall logic. no avail! Garageband still recognizes without issue each time the device is plugged in or out. Logic sees the device, allows me to choose the device in preferences > audio > devices... but will not get a signal. and will not show up in audio > input (not sure if it is supposed to show up there or not.) I have read many threads telling me to just add logic with mic access, but this did NOT resolve the issue for me. Started a fresh project from a template with audio tracks. Didn't work. Tried a blank project and adding an audio track... no difference. please help before I have to continue another day in self-isolation without recording anything!!! LOL

Just be sure I understand the problem:

Logic and GarageBand don't show up in the Mic Privacy access list.

You can "see" the 2i4 in both applications.

You get no sound at all from the 2i4.

Right?

One thing is not there: Did you authorize the 2i4 driver in System Preferences > Security & Privacy > General? You had about 30 min. to do so after the driver installation.

Did you follow these instructions, especially the one about reinstalling the driver?

Tried that. No avail.

so I decided to dissassemble / unplug everything. And start over. Rebooted Mac. Then plugged in interface. Then booted logic. Then plugged in mic’s to 2i4. Then selected 2i4 from devices in preferences < audio.

and it worked!!

no idea why this was so glitchy.

i even opened an old project and the audio tracks are now able to get a signal. SO - I suggest doing this exact process to fix if anyone else finds this mic permission setting is NOT replacing your issue.

Hopefully this helps someone!!
