The current iPadOS version is 13.4. Hopefully you are using that version. If so, you have the very latest Safari version available for iPad.

a program I was trying to use said it wouldn't work unless my Safari was updated to the right place..
I didn't know which Safari version I was using and didn't know how to check.
Safari is bundled with iPadOS. Your iPadOS version is what matters.
