Multiple users with same Apple ID

just got a new iPad...how do I set up so I don’t get my kids texts and they don’t get mine.

iPad Pro, iOS 13

Don't use the "same Apple ID. Use Family Sharing:

Each person needs to have their own Apple ID to prevent that. Apple IDs aren't meant to be shared. Before offering more suggestions, do you all share the iPad or are there other devices/computers that they/you are using?
