Sandisk Extreme Pro 500gb

Hi,

I am using this SSD to edit my videos in FCPX. When I first set it up I restored and re-formatted it as ExFat. I believe it came as Exfat but I restored it anyways. My drive is almost full and I've calculated only about 330 gbs used, below says 420.

Do I need to format to something else other than ExFat?

Am I correctly set up in FCPX to edit off my SSD?

Are my footage import settings correct?

Thank you!

In Final Cut Pro, open one of the libraries that reside on this drive, select the library in the browser sidebar and choose

File->Delete Generated Library Files...

Check ALL the boxes, including "All Render Files".

Confirm.

Quit Final Cut Pro and look back at your drive. How much space is it using now?

This is what the inside of the folder looks like...

Second picture is my FCPX Libraries. I set up separate libraries for different types of videos that I make "Travel" "Real Estate". Then I'll start a new event and within that event I start a new project. Should I not do that?

Oh okay cool. So if I deleted generated files in FCPX, how come it is not deleting the footage in the Final Cut Optimized Media folder on my SSD?

I can just delete all those folders with the dates right? And do I need to wait until the project is complete?

As I was writing when your post appeared, if you do not recognize those as event names, throw them away.

Even if you do, you can probable erase them, but it would be preferable to do with from inside FCP X with File->Delete Generated Library Files..

Of course, it could well be that the libraries from which these were created do not exist anymore, in which case you can delete (unless for some reason you need those clips and no longer have the originals, of course!)

That freed up 30gb.

But the optimized media folder still shows 176gbs. There is footage in there. Should there be? I believe these are copies from the footage I added into the SSD to edit with....
