Keynote text overlays for picture in picture

I am wondering if there is a way to import keynote text and overlay on a picture in picture/side by side clip or am I bound to the iMovie text option?

Hi,

You can make titles in Keynote and use them in iMovie.

The way I have done it is to use Keynote to create the text on a green background, then export it as a movie to the desktop. Then I import the movie into an iMovie project and overlay it with the Green Screen feature of iMovie. To actually overlay it onto a Side by Side (split), you would need to create the Side by Side in a separate project, export it out and then import it back in to your original project as one clip. Then you overlay your title onto that clip.

If it's just text that you want to overlay, without fancy animations, it would be easier to use the Preview app on your make to make a transparency screen, put your title into the transparency screen, then save and import into iMovie and overlay as a Picture in Picture that you can move around and control better than with Green Screen, and also animate it.
