iPhone broken

My son broke his iPhone and would like to use his sisters old phone for now - we can’t get into the old phone because it was using an old Apple ID - how do I get past this and enter his new Apple ID

You would have to login to that old Apple ID and then factory reset the device. If you cannot login to the old Apple ID, try resetting the password via email. Hope this helps.
