iMovie media transfer

I have all my iPhone videos and photos on my Ext hard drive, but when I click >import Media I get this error; None of the selected files or folders can be imported. Change the selection and try again. What am I doing wrong? All my photos/videos are from my iPhone so I know the format is correct.

Also, when I import media from external drive is the Mac storage being stored as well, as I don't have that much space on the Macintosh .

thank you

I don't know what could be causing that. Sometimes clips in the HEVC or HEIC format causes some issues.

Try dragging one of your clips to your desktop and from there drag it into iMovie. Or, you can drag it directly into iMovie. If that works, you can do that with the rest of them.

Anything that you import from your external drive to your Mac will take up storage space on your Mac. If from your Mac you drag the imported clip into iMovie, then iMovie will create a duplicate clip that will thus take up double the space on your Mac.
