Water damage to MacBook Air

So I spilled a bit of water on my MacBook Air keyboard 72 hours ago. I did everything I was supposed to like turn it off immediately, unplug it, turn it over into a tent like way and not turn it on for 48 hours. Thankfully the computer is working and all my things are still there but the only issue is light for the screen isn’t working. If I put it up to the light I can see through the apple logo that the screen itself is working but the light isn’t on and it’s to dark to use. Does anyone know how can this be fixed? Does it need more time to dry or should I send it off to someone? Thank you :)

Try an SMC reset and a PRAM reset (hold the PRAM reset for at least three chimes or a full minute).

Make sure the brightness is at maximum.

If this does not help, then the laptop suffered internal liquid damage to Logic Board and possibly Display Assembly.

Even if the laptop is working now most likely you will encounter other issues once corrosion has set in which can take days or even weeks to occur.

FYI, I personally don't recommend tilting the laptop at all after a liquid spill as that will cause the water to run into areas it may not have normally touched or been able to access. There is a mylar cover beneath the Keyboard which can protect the Logic Board from some liquid spills. The exception is if the water entered a vent or port on the back or sides in which case I would tilt the laptop in that direction.

Until you can get the laptop repaired or replaced you can try using the laptop with an external display.

I highly recommend you make a backup while you can in case the laptop failure gets worse.

The cost to repair this laptop probably is not going to be worth it so you should really consider purchasing another laptop.
