Make sure that your Apple TV is plugged into power and that the status light is on. If you don’t see the status light, here's what you can do. After each step, see if you still need help.

  • Press Menu or Apple TV App/Home  on your Siri Remote to try to wake up your Apple TV.
  • Unplug the power cord from your Apple TV, wait 30 seconds, then plug the power cord back in.
  • Try using a different power outlet.
  • If the Apple TV is plugged into a power strip, make sure that the power strip is turned on.

If this won't help, contact Apple Support.

First try a cold restart. If that doesn’t solve it …

A flashing status light and a failure to start up, may indicate the need to reinstall the system software. As the Apple TV 4K doesn’t have a USB port, users can’t perform this task themselves. Contact Apple Support, an Apple Store, or an Apple Authorized Service Provider.

Is it ok to connect Apple TV to Mac through Type-C cable?

If the model Apple TV has a USB port, then you can do that. But the Apple TV 4K model doesn't have such a service port.

Will Mac see an Apple TV?

On Mac with macOS 10.14 or earlier, the iTunes application would recognize the USB-connected Apple TV for servicing.

On Mac with macOS 10.15 or later, the Finder would recognize the USB-connected Apple TV for servicing.
