Not able to airplay phone call to Apple TV.

I have an Apple TV 4k and an iPhone XS.

I am not able to route phone calls via Airplay through the Apple TV.

I was on older system software versions on both and the Apple TV would not even show up when selecting the speaker output.

Now, with both devices on 13.4 it does show up and seems to try to connect when I select it. But it just falls back to internal iPhone speaker after 10 seconds or so.

Mirroring the iPhone during a call is not possible. I think that is deliberately prohibited.

I have to say that the Apple TV is connected via ethernet cable (via an Airport Extreme that also delivers the WiFi the iPhone is connected to).

WiFi and BT are active on the phone.

Any idea why this would not work?

I now had the chance to disconnect ethernet from the Apple TV and try it completely through WiFi. Still no success.

By the way, I can airplay stream any other content from any of my iOS or macOS devices to the Apple TV, just no phone calls.

I would really love to use my Apple TV for conference calls during these turbulent times (#COVID-19 #WFH).

As you can see from the screenshot below, I can see (and successfully select) other devices shown. Interestingly the Apple TV does not show an icon on the left side, compared to all the others.

If I try to select the Apple TV it will show the speaker symbol together with the Bluetooth symbol for about 5 seconds and then just fall back to internal speaker.
